Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 14, 1999, at Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
Virginia Sylvia Bennett was born April 30, 1919, in West Liberty, the daughter of Samuel and Florence (Smith) Bennett. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1936. She married LeRoy Fred Schneider on October 9, 1937, in Muscatine. LeRoy preceded her in death on March 10, 1997. She was employed as a nurses aid and unit clerk with Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for several years, until she retired.
Surviving are one son, Samuel (Mary) Schneider of West Liberty; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Bennett of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter and one brother.
