She was born April 5, 1908 in Freeport to John and Catherine Scherping. She married Hubert Moonen in 1931. They came to Kelliher in 1935. She was a member of the Kelliher VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis (Jack) Zacharias of Minneapolis, Lloyd (Linda) Moonen of Coon Rapids, Alvin (Janice) Moonen of Kalispell, Mont., Bertha Moonen of Minneapolis, Audrey (James) LeBrun of Princeton and Stephen Moonen; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; one sister, Bernadine Halama and six brothers, Leonard, Antonius, Gerhard, Gotthaid, Edward and Alfhons.
