PUTNAM [Windham Co., CT]—Arthur D. Alvord, 78, of Phillips Street died yesterday in Waterford Health & Rehabilitation Center, Waterford [New London Co.], Conn., after an illness. His wife, Alma (Nason) Alvord, died in 1979.
He leaves a son, Harold Alvord of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Carol A. Lusby of Putnam; two brothers, Charles Alvord of Scotland, Conn., and James Alvord of Putnam; a sister, Alice Benoit of Putnam; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Putnam, son of Eugene and Sarah (Malley) Alvord, and lived here all his life. He was a foreman at the former Medbury & Trowbridge Construction Co., whre he worked for more than 30 years before he retired. Mr. Alvord was a former member of Putnam Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St. Burial will be in Grove Street Cemetery....
