Rita Jane Berger, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, September 8, 2013.

Born in Kenton, Ohio, she lived with her family in Tucson, Arizona since 1956.

She is predeceased by her husband, John Ward Berger; her parents, Louis and Mary Black; brother, Lou Black; and sisters, Mary Louise Black and Helen Hayter.

Rita is survived by four children, Patricia Berger (Jeffrey Douglass), Mike Berger (Sue), Teresa Scruggs, and Mary Berger; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A woman of faith and kindness, Rita was a gentle, caring spirit treasured by all who knew her and an endless source of love and strength for her children. The family extends a special thank you to Antonia Markou for her generous and loving care at Pelion Adult Care Home.

Visitation and remembrances will be held Friday, September 13, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bring's Memorial Chapel, 236 South Scott Avenue. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Church on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Hope Cemetery.
