Billy Mack Wood, 76, of Lake Brownwood, died Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Brownwood Regional Hospital. He was born February 10, 1927, in Callahan County, Texas, the son of the late Emmett and Faye Wood. He attended school in Putnam and married Elizabeth "Dean" Chapman on February 28, 1948 in Rising Star, Texas. Bill served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a ranch foreman, an auto parts salesman, and owned and managed an auto parts store in Big Spring. He was a member of the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church and had lived at Lake Brownwood since 1984. He was formerly from Odessa and Big Spring Texas.
Bill is survided by his wife, Dean of Lake Brownwood; a son Danny and his wife Patti Wood of Rising Star; three sisters, Wanda Sugg of Chico, Betty Wyatt of San Angelo, and Treva Simpson of Mesquite, one sister-in-law Peggy Brown Wood of San Angelo, and many nieces and nephews. He was prceded in death by a sister, Mary Allen and three brothers, Jerry Don, George, and Elvin Wood.
