William was born in 1826/27 and was baptized at Pennington Presbyterian Church in 1827. He died aged 15 years.

The following note, slightly edited, was contributed by member Rose Stout (source unknown):

On July 4, 1841, William was crushed to death by a log rolling over him. That accident happened while he was working in his father Reuben Titus's sawmill. Reuben inherited this property from his father, Solomon, in 1833. The sawmill stood at the confluence of Honey and Stoney Brooks. In 1914 … an old weather-beaten building [was] standing there. It was later learned that it was a part of the sawmill. The legend has come down in the family that, following the lad's death, old-timers living in the vicinity saw and heard his ghost many time before the water of those two brooks.
