Death at Poplar. Mrs. Amanda Thorpe Rounds, a New Settler, Died Sunday, July 11, 1909
Poplar, July 14--Died, very suddenly, Sunday morning, Mrs. Amanda Thorpe Rounds, at their ranch on the south of the river. They came here about a year ago from Fergus Falls, Minn., and had taken up a ranch in Dawson county. She was respected and loved by all who knew her, a devoted wife and mother. She leaves behind a husband to mourn her loss, and the following children: Archie Thorpe, Kewanie, Ill.; Mrs. Fannie Hill, Gallatea, Colo.; Mrs. Florence Hurt and Miss Esther Rounds, Fergus Falls, Minn.; Gertrude Rounds, Lehigh, Iowa; and Harry Rounds of Poplar. The funeral was held from the Presbeterian church today and she was laid to rest in Poplar cemetery. Mr. Rounds and family have the sympathy of the entire family. She was born August 8, 1847, at Toulon, Illinos.
