In 1885 he came to Montevideo and in 1889 purchased a dray line which he has operated since. He was married in 1899 at Northfield to Emma Krassin of Montevideo and since their marriage have made their home here. The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, Alfred of Los Angeles, Cal., and Clifford of Montevideo and six sisters and two brothers. Alfred, who about two weeks ago underwent an operation for appendicitis in a hospital in Los Angeles, will be unable to be here for the funeral. Word has been received that he was expected to leave the hospital there yesterday.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Friday) at 2:00 o'clock from the Methodist church, Rev. H. W. Siefert officiating. Burial will be made in the city cemetery. The Montevideo Fire Department of which the deceased had been a member for twenty-five years will attend the funeral in a body. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows will conduct services at the church and at the grave. In his thirty-six years as a resident of Montevideo Mr. Burchard had established a wide acquaintance and his friends sincerely mourn his passing. John Krassin of Flaxville, Mont., a brother of Mrs. Burchard arrived Wednesday.
