Mrs. Johnson was born in Osage County, west of Ochelata on February 10, 1924. She was the daughter of George Raleigh Prather and Jessie Marie (Kilgore) Prather. Mrs. Johnson worked for Sears Roebuck Co. from 1970 to 1974; she worked for two years as manager of the Ochelata Grocery Store; and worked for two years for the City of Bartlesville before going to work for the State Election Board of Washington County, where she was the Election Board Secretary for 12 years. Mrs. Johnson retired in 1991.
Bertha and Alta Lee Leard were married December 31, 1943 in Bartlesville. She married James A. Grovenburg on April 15, 1961 in the Baptist Church in Ochelata. James passed away June 10, 1990. She then married Ralph H. Johnson on April 28, 1992 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Bertha has made her home in and around Ochelata all of her life. She graduated valedictorian from Ochelata High School in 1943.
Bertha was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Jessie Prather; one brother, Jack Walter Prather, and one sister, Stella Mae (Gardner) Evans.
