He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Lonaconing, Md., to the late George and Lena (Harvey) McCormick.
Mr. McCormick was an avid coin collector. He also enjoyed playing all types of lottery games. He had been a member of the American Legion Post in Barton, Md. Mr. McCormick served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962.
Mr. McCormick retired from Lintern Corporation in Mentor.
He is survived by his son, Randall (Jennifer) of Frostburg, Md.; daughter, Connie (Phil) Sarver of Hagerstown, Md.; grandchildren, Tristan Sarver and Mason and Mary Jane McCormick; sisters, Naomi (Cole) Gmitra of Painesville, Sondra Lawrence of Painesville, Cathy (Frank) Shank of Concord Township and Lena (Chris) Morgan of Ashtabula; brothers, Kenneth (Charlotte) of Keyser, W.Va., and William (Cindy) of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Paul McCormick.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. Gerald D. Kalb of Painesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Mentor Cemetery.
