Douglas John Ballew
1937 - 2013


Douglas John Ballew passed away peacefully in Coeur d'Alene, ID on August 31, 2013 at the age of 76. He was born February 23, 1937 in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Doug is survived by his wife, Judy, of 53 years; and three children: Tami Jean Ballew-Moorman, John Edward Ballew and Eric Alexander Ballew; and four grandchildren: Lauren, Jenna, Alan and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Geneva Ballew.

He served his country for 20 years as a Navy officer, retiring in 1984 as a Lt. Commander. He was born and raised in Cottage Grove, Oregon. He attended Oregon State University on a basketball and track scholarship, graduating in 1960 with a degree in Forestry Engineering. His passion and hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping.

A grave site service will be held at Fir Grove Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. in Cottage Grove, Oregon on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
