Hurshel I. Austin, 76, of 3034 S. 12th St. died at 2:12 a.m. Monday at St. John's Hospital.
Born in Wayne City, Mr. Austin was the son of Francis Marion and Emma Moyer Austin.
He formerly was employed by Allis-Chalmers and later was associated with the Sikking Co., retiring in 1969.
He married Maudlee Trammell in 1947.
Preceding him in death were five brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Maudlee; five sons, Marvin, of Wrenz, Ga.; Ivan H. Jr., of Paris; Raymond, David and Jim, all of Springfield; four daughters, Mrs. Cheryl Thrasher and Mrs. Charlene Vono, both of Springfield; Mrs. Helen Blood, of Highland, Ind.; Mrs. Wilma Wirtes, of Highland, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Anna Humphrees, of Springfield; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were at the First Assembly of God Church.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
