Alice H. Paisley
PAISLEY, Alice H. Memorial services for Alice H. Paisley will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 12:30 p.m. at Wilsons Chapel of the Roses. Minister J.D. and Debbie Stonecipher will officiate. Alice passed away on April 4, 2004 at the age of 89. She was born on May 1, 1914, in Wapinitia Flats, Oregon, the youngest of eleven children born to Edward and Mellissa Davis. Her early school years were spent at Pinegrove in Maupin, Oregon. Family circumstances made it necessary to live with a sister in Eagle Point, Oregon where she graduated in 1931. Alice married Loris McVay in 1932, and together they had four daughters, and later were divorced. In 1947, she married Arthur Paisley and a son, Hubert soon arrived. Art was a construction worker, which made it necessary to move from job to job. At retirement they settled in Modesto California, where Alice lived for 32 years. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Hansen; Carol Hymer; Georgia and husband, Jim Pemberton; and son, Hubert and wife, Judy. Grandma Alice is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Paisley; daughter, Anita Volkman; grandson, Earl Lee Pemberton; and great-grandson, Jesse Beukema and all of her siblings. Alice was a kind and gentle lady who never spoke bad about anyone. She enjoyed her flowers and house plants and listening to traditional christian music. If there was a stray cat around they seemed to know if they wandered into Alices yard it could become their home! She also had the reputation of being the champion Scrabble player with The girls in the trailer park. Mamas family extends a special thank you to the entire staff at Rose Haven Nursing Center for the love, compassion, and care given to her. Her beautiful smile and sunny disposition will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services will be held on April 30, 2004, in Modesto, California. Cremation services were held by Roseburg Funeral Alternatives.
