JOHN C. SCROGGS Sr.
LENOIR - John Cecil Scroggs Sr., 77, of Hospital Avenue, NE, died Aug. 18, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Born Jan. 7, 1923, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late John M. and Mary Rabb Scroggs.
A member of First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir, he was a former deacon and choir member. A U.S. Navy veteran of World
War II, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Thompson Scroggs; a son, John Cecil Scrogg Jr. of Lenoir; two daughters, Susan Elizabeth Scroggs of Morganton and Nancy C. Scroggs of Lenoir; two brothers, Henry Lamar Scroggs of Fairhope, Ala., and James William Scroggs of Great Neck, N.Y.; and a grandchild, Cameron Elizabeth Scroggs of Lenoir.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Revs. Gerrit Scott Dawson and Parker Williamson at 4 p.m. Sunday at his church. The family will remain at the church after the service.
