Lynn Neldon Ainsworth "Ains" Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. He was born August 28, 1924 in Cresent, UT to Heber Lynn and Geneva Johnson Ainsworth. Married Phyllis Jean Benson on April 2, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He loved being in the mountains, especially the Uintas where he spent a lot of time back packing, hiking, camping and climbing the high peaks with his son Curtis and other family members. Ains graduated from Jordan High. He was a sports enthusiast, but really loved the Portland Trailblazers. He was involved in farming all his life and was a water master for 25 years. He worked for Kennecott for 30 years as a brakeman and locomotive engineer. Ains served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division 511th Parachute Infantry. He had many callings as he served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple for 17 years. He also served at the Stake Welfare Farm for over 25 years. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and he loved spending time with them. Ains is survived by his wife of 61 years, his children Phyllis Rae Ainsworth and husband Lynn Merrill, Curtis (Sherrie), LeeAnn (Bobby) Medina, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers, David and Noal. Preceded in death by a son Dennis Lynn, brothers Jack and LaMar, and sisters Juanita and Janice. Funeral services will be Monday, January 19, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 E. 10600 So, where family and friends may call Sunday from 5-7 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services.
