Leesville - A. J. Black, 68, of 430 Old Lexington Road, died Monday. Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Austin B. and Mannie Padgett Black. He was a member of Ridge Road Community Center, a retired 30-years employee of Corley Brothers Lumber Co. of Lexington and a farmer. He was a member and church councilman of Union Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lilla Swygert Black; sons, J. Lanier Black of Leesville and A. J. "Jay" Black of West Columbia; sisters, Mrs. Ruth B. Harmon of West Columbia and Mrs. Andrew (Louise) Corley and Miss Doris B. Black of Leesville; and grandchildren. Services will be held at 5 p.m. today at Union Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. F. LaVaughn Keisler. Pallbearers will be Randy Caughman, Brewston Snelgrove, Charlie Jackson, Yoder Bedenbaugh, H. Pick Shealy, Doug Oswalt, Freddie P. Derrick, Wise and Mike Crapps and Frank Frazee.
