LeOra Friesen, 82, of Henderson, NE passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, at her home on the farm. She was born February 9, 1931 on a farm near Henderson to Aaron and Margaret (Friesen) Siebert. The cornerstones of her life were faith, her beloved husband John, family, and work.

Growing up on the farm, LeOra learned to work at an early age. She fondly recalled helping her father milk cows and separate cream twice each day. She loved the growing season and watching the crops mature. LeOra was 10 years old when drought caused them to move from Henderson to Luton, IA where they farmed for 4 years before returning to a farm near Lushton, NE. When her husband John, lost his hand in a farm accident, she became his right hand, working beside him every day. Together they made a wonderful team! She continued to keep busy after John passed away in March. She helped haul out irrigation pipe and had recently applied for and started a job with Home Instead Senior Care. She could be found riding her bicycle, driving the 4-wheeler, and taking drives in her car.

John and LeOra were united in marriage on September 5, 1950. They were the parents of five children: Allen, Karen, April, Wesley, and Linda and were later blessed with 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Their devotion to one another was always evident. LeOra passed away on their wedding anniversary, writing in her journal that morning, "Happy 63rd anniversary. I miss you Honey!"

Faith in Jesus was a vital part of her life. She accepted Christ at a tent revival meeting at the age of 7. She was baptized in 1948 and was a life-long member of Bethesda Mennonite Church. She was active in mission circle and together with John, LeOra enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday night CE, Sunday School, and midweek classes. John and LeOra shared evening devotions daily and together they read through the Bible several times.

LeOra was preceded in death by husband John; son Allen; daughter April; parents; brothers Wilmer and Arlin Siebert; sister Rachel Kliewer; brothers-in-law George Kroeker, Albert Kliewer, Abraham, Walter, David, Herman, and Herb Friesen; sisters-in-law Margie Siebert, Matilda and Nettie Friesen, and Esther Kroeker.

Left to cherish her memory are son Wesley (Leta) Friesen of Polk; daughters Karen (John) Martens of Henderson and Linda Graham of Lincoln; grandchildren: Marie (Patrick) Garmoe of Duluth, MN, Kiley (Ryan) Carman of Wiesbaden, Germany, Ashley (Justin) Ervin of Brooklyn, NY, Grant Friesen of Polk, Madison Graham of Lincoln and Abigail Graham of Omaha; great-grandson August Graham of Lincoln; sisters-in-law: Janice Siebert, Marie Epp, Norma Friesen, Lorene Friesen, and Estaleen Quiring all of Henderson; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

LeOra's example of simple faith, love of family, and hard work has been a blessing to her children, grandchildren and many others. God is good. Praise his name!
