VELMA BURRESS
Granby, Mo,__Velma Elizabeth Burress, 83, Granby, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturdary at Sale Hospital, Neosho, after two months of ill health.

Mrs. Burres was born April 16, 1907, at Newtonia. She had lived in Granby most of her life. She managed Kimbrough Nursing Home for several years and later worked as a seamstress for the Granby Manufacturing Company for 13 years. She retired in 1968. She was a member of the Granby Gospel Tabernacle and was an active worker in the Democratic Party.

She married Homer Lee Burress on Oct. 1, 1925, in Granby. He died July 26, 1954.

Survivors include a son, Bill Burress, Granby, two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Poe, Joplin, and Barbara Jean McCullah, Granby, a sister Clara Hales, Hoisington, Kan., seven grand childrn aqnd 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Granby Gospel Tabernacle. The Rv. Otto A. Busch and the Rev Dan Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery.
