A native of Hardeeville, he was a member and Deacon of Hardeeville Baptist Church. He was a former Mayor of Hardeeville, a former member of Hardeeville Town Council, a World War II veteran, a member of Hardeeville Masonic Lodge and a retired serviceman for South Carolina Electric & Gas.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Geneva F. Cooler of Hardeeville; two daughters, Fran C. Davis of Spartanburg and Barbara A. Veal of Charleston; two brothers, Hubert A. Cooler of Beaufort and Eugene P. Cooler of Coosawhatchie; two sisters, Mary Butler of Pineora, Ga. and Myrtle Driggers of North Charleston; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL: 1 p.m. today at Hardeeville Baptist Church, burial in Maye River Cemetery, Bluffton.
