David moved to Chattanooga and lived there all of his adult life. David loved his church - Brainerd United Methodist - where he was very active as Lay Leader and Sunday School Teacher, and small group leader. David graduated from The University of Tennessee and enjoyed keeping up with their sports teams. David ran a basketball league at Brainerd Methodist for 25 years and influenced the lives of many young men.
David is survived by his wife Donna, their son James and one granddaughter. He is also survived by his mother and his sister. David was preceeded by his father, Robert E Akers.
David was loved by, and will be missed by, many people.
