Leland Thaddeus Ours, 89, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at
the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Ours was born May 22, 1912, in Dorcas, W.Va., the son of Clarence E. and
Arletta Crites Ours.

He was a farmer, a livestock dealer and an auctioneer. He had been associated
with the South Branch Stockyards at Moorefield for 45 years, serving as clerk
and as auctioneer.

He was a charter member of the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Co., and was a trustee
of Grant Memorial Hospital for 20 years.

In 1956, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Potomac Valley Bank and
retired as chairman in 1998.

He was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church.

He was married to Lois Feaster Ours who died May 25, 1997.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

Survivors include two sons, Thad Ours and Fred Ours, both of Petersburg; four
grandsons and four great-grandsons.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg,
with Rev. Richard L. Longbon officiating

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Memorials may be made to Burlington United Methodist Family Services or a
charity of choice.
