She was born in Chanute, Kan., to Happy and Owen Farnam, on Dec. 1, 1916. She was a very strong and loving sister, aunt, wife and friend. She was preceded in death by her late and beloved husband, Wally Shields, her mother, Happy Watt, a sister, Dorris Snodgrass, and a nephew, Michael Snodgrass. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 37 years. She loved to fish and was very active in the Lake Jacomo Pontoon Club. She is a lifetime member of Kansas City Chapter 1092 in Sugar Creek. She held many offices with the Women of the Moose, including College Regent and Star Recorder. She was very active in all activities and cooked many a catfish for the Moose Lodge. With being a member, she established many great friendships and looked on them as extended family.
She is survived by her niece, Susan Skipper, great-nieces, Terri-Lea Gotchie and husband, Rick, and Danielle Snodgrass, great-nephews, Anthony Carson and wife, Brenda, J.W. Skipper, David Snodgrass and wife, Angela, and Jaime Snodgrass and wife, Jill, great-great-nephews, Nathan Gotchie, Brynt and Kyle Carson, and Matthew Skipper, and great-great-niece, Miranda Skipper, all of Arizona.
Aunt Cele, you are loved very much. You will be missed greatly, but never forgotten.
A "Celebration of Life" in honor of Lucille will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-8900. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Warrensburg, Mo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to Women of the Moose Chapter 1092, 510 N. Sterling Ave., Sugar Creek, Mo. 64054.
