During the war, Betty was being trained as a government stenographer while working at Autolite spark plug factory — later known as Ford — assembling spark plugs by hand. After the war, she continued there. She worked as a church secretary, a clothing presser, Sears clerk and secretary at Dan Bailey's, before finally working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a clerk. She was a member of the Happy Hobby Club and loved doing all sorts of crafts.
Together they raised four children. They have numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and an extremely large extended family. Betty is also survived by a sister of Ohio.
