Steven Hosmer was baptised at Ticehurst, East Sussex, England on December 26, 1570. He was the son of James and Agnes Hosmer. Steven married at St. Mary's Church in Ticehurst on January 25, 1602, Dorothy Selden. After the wedding, they settled in the neighboring village of Hawkhurst, Kent, where Steven was a shearman. Steven and Dorothy had nine children baptised at Hawkhurst between 1603 and 1621. Steven wrote his will, naming his wife as Dorothy, in 1632. He died in Hawkhurst and was buried in St. Laurence Churchyard there on May 24, 1632.
