Mr. Kane died last Friday in Galena Boulevard hospital, Aurora, after an illness of five months.
A 49 year veteran of the Northwestern railroad, Mr. Kane was also active in politics and in the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, serving that organization as legislative representative for eight years.
He was born March 24, 1882, in Tonica, Ill., and spent much of his life in Aurora. He was a resident of this community for many years.
Surviving him are his wife, Frances; son John Jr. of Aurora; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Rottsolk, Aurora, Mrs. Betty Giles, Jacksonville, N. C., and Mrs. Marcella Morton of Eucinatas [sic, recte Encinitas], Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Barringer of Chicago and Mrs. Frank Meiers of Kirkwood, Mo., and seven grandchildren.
