TULIA, Sept. 8 (Special) - Funeral services for Steven Earnest Edwards, Swisher County rural mail carrier for many years, were conducted from the First Methodist Church at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The oration was read by Rev. Uel D. Crosby, pastor, assisted by Grady Pricer, minister of the Central Church of Christ.
Mr. Edwards was born in Kerr County, Texas, Jan. 1, 1881 [sic], moving to Tulia in 1919. Death came at five minutes before midnight last Wednesday. He was 58 years old.
He is survived by his wife and two grandchildren of White Deer. A daughter preceded him in death in November, 1938.
Pallbearers were T.R. Daniel, Everett Rice, Jim Frye, Charles Sims, Porter Campbell and John Barnhart.
Mr. Edwards carried the Vigo Park rural mail route until July of this year. He had been in bad health two years.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
