She was born on her parents farm eight miles west of Amboy, Minnesota.
Merilyn married Sidney Raymond "Sid" Ames on September 4, 1954 after graduating from Hamline School of Nursing in Minnesota.
Their fist son, Gregory (Teri) was born in Germany where Sid was stationed with the Army for two years. The second son Bradley (Zana) was born in Minnesota three years later and a daughter, Kimberly (Joel Huff) 5 1/2 years later. She was survived by her spouse, children and grandchildren David, Cayla, and Sam Ames, Taylor, Tanner, and Trevor Huff of Largo, Fl. Preceded in death by grandsons, Christopher and Geoffrey Ames of Flagstaff.
Merilyn was a devout member of the Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She loved music and played the piano and organ for church for over 50 years. She passed her love of music to her children and grandchildren and loved to watch them perform.
