Hattie Bell was born Nov. 2, 1879 in Michigan to mother Amanda Moody and father Michael Ginnan. Her stepfather was William Christie. In 1901 Edison Armstrong was born, but passed away that same year (He was interred with Amanda's twins Howard and Hazel Christie). By 1906, she was married to Herbert James "Burt" McFarland, and daughter Genevieve "Jennie" McFarland was born. In 1908 Rose was born, but she passed away sometime between 1910 and 1917.
