August 6, 1931
Devoted to his family and respected by all who came in contact with him,
Joseph Corda, prominent rancher, passed away at his ranch in Hick's Valley last
Tuesday.
He was born in Switzerland on June 8, 1865, and came to California
and Marin County 47 years ago. Mr. Corda and his wife had lived in San Rafael
for the past 7 years, and he always enjoyed visiting the ranches, which his sons
conducted, as he turned the business over to them when he retired. It was while
he was on one of these visits that he became stricken with a paralytic stroke.
All that the medical world could do for him was done, but from the very
beginning of his illness recovery was doubtful.
He was well known in
fraternal circles and was a member of the Swiss Mutual Benevolent
Society.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his devoted wife,
Adelaide Corda; 5 children - Alfred D., Henry C., Frank J. Corda, Mrs. Emma
Leveroni and Miss Tillie G. Corda; 2 sisters, Lucia Corda of Switzerland, and
Caterina Fachinetti of Italy; 2 brothers, Bartolomeo and Domenico Corda of
Switzerland; and the following grandchildren; Marjorie, Esther, Joseph, Lester,
Ernest, Dorothy, Eleanor and Frances Corda, and he also leaves nephews, nieces,
and other relatives here and abroad.
Funeral services will be held Saturday
at St. Raphael's Church, where a high mass will be celebrated for the repose of
his soul. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
