Annie L. (Vinson) Houger (12/28/1910 - 10/17/2011)
(Age 100)
Annie was the daughter of Loren and Annie Vinson, the eldest of five children. She moved frequently during her early years as her father sought work, even traveling in a covered wagon. The family also lived, in a railroad boxcar (quite comfortable) when her father was working for the railroad. The family eventually settled near Creston, where Annie met Norman Houger and they were married in 1933. Together they farmed near Creston until retirement, when they spent a few winters in Southern California. Annie enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and needlework. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. After Norman's death, Annie moved to Vista Manor in Wilbur and later to Lincoln Nursing Home in Davenport. She was especially appreciative of the care she received in both places.
Annie is survived by two children and spouses; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 1995, three brothers: Loren, Victor, and Hector, and one sister, Jacqueline.
As per her request, no services will be held.
