James Steven Walton, age 58, of Springville, passed away at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at I. U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born Oct. 3, 1953, in Linton, the son of James E. & Wilma (Ashcraft) Walton.
He was a 1971 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School, retired as a Laborer of Union #741, & was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post #22.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Mae (Rice) Walton, to whom he was married Sept. 29, 2011, two daughters, Stephanie Ann (Bryce) Benefiel of Linton & Shiwana Marie Walton, two sons, Stevie Ray Walton & Logan Page-Walton, a sister, Deborah Walton of Linton, four grandchildren, Blake Lee Benefiel, Samantha Ann Walton, Kambren Shane Walton-Landis, & Karlen Delaney Walton-Landis, a great-grandson, Miguel, & several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Walton in 2011, & a brother, Richard Walton in 1987.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, Aug. 10, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Pastor Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
The Linton American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Thursday & at 11 A.M. Friday until the hour of the service.
