Asbury are native ill several months
ASBURY- John Herschel Barrett, 91, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg, Kansas after an illness of several months.
Born Feb. 25, 1898, at Asbury, he was a lifelong Asbury area resident. He was a farmer and a member of Church of God.
He was married to Oma Gladys Baker Feb. 20, 1917, in Kansas City. She died in 1932.
Surviving are two sons Calvin Barrett, and Averill Barrett, two daughters Thelma Grace, and Eula Frances Johnson, two sisters Gertrude Sullivan, and Ruth White,32 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Selvey Funeral Home, Jasper. The Rev. Bill Brammer will officiate and burial will be in Medoc Cemetery, west of Jasper.
