Mr. Weissinger was born on December 28th, 1917 in Nanuet, NY to his late parents George Jacob and Emma Horn Weissinger. He was a member of the Nine Mile Methodist Church, a honorably discharged veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion, Post #82, and retired as a maintenance supervisor at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He is preceded in death by brother, William Weissinger.
Mr. Weissinger is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alberta Johnson Weissinger of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Ken Hughes of Cox's Creek, KY; sons and daughter-in-law Karl and Kathlene Weissinger of Miami, FL, Kris Weissinger and Steve Weissinger, both of Ellijay, GA; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Anne W. Rupp of Bennington, VT, Elsie W. Biehl of Bloomsburg, NY, and Pauline W. DiPalma of Chester, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Naylor and Rev. Kenny Bailey officiating. Music will be by Mary Francis Hines. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post #82. A military committal service will immediately follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
