Jay K. Banks, 79, was born in Nevada, Oct. 6, 1877, son of Ambrose K. and Sarah Rice Banks. He lived his entire life in Nevada.

He was united in marriage May 21, 1901, to Alma Proctor of Nevada, who preceded him in death. Most of his years of employment were spent in the Nevada Post Office, a number of them as Assistant Postmaster until his retirement.

He had been an active member of the Knights of Pythias until his termination here in Nevada. His quiet ways, his sense of humor and his interest in fishing were well known to his friends.

Mr. Banks had entered Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames for surgery three weeks ago. Pneumonia was the cause of his death which occurred early Tuesday morning August 16.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, a son Kenneth, a brother Howard Banks and sister Mrs. Alma Allen Caster.

Surviving are his son Paul, his brother Arthur, and sister Edith Shugart, all of Nevada. He also leaves several nephews and nieces.
