MILO - Lucy Strout, 85, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died August 27, 2013, in Conroe, TX, where she had lived with her son and daughter-in law for the past six years. Lucy was born to Sterling and Edith (Sawler) Martin in Brownville Junction, on December 2, 1927, one of ten children. Lucy had many jobs throughout her life; one which she liked to talk about was working for the CP Railroad getting steam engines ready for service during WW II. Her last employment was with Dexter Shoe Co. in Milo, where she retired in 1993. She enjoyed her retirement years with trips to family reunions, bean hole bean cookouts at her house where everyone enjoyed her perfect biscuits, playing cards with her brothers John, Tommy and a special nephew, Charlie Weston, and crocheting.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lorin "Tige" Strout; oldest son, Ronald Strout; and great grandson, Cody Strout.

She is survived by her son, Keith Strout and his wife, Sue, of Conroe, TX; daughter-in-law, Deborah Strout of Gorham; brother, Thomas Martin and wife, Sandy, of Howland; sister, Ada Cutliff of Kenduskeag; two grandchildren, Scott Strout of O'Fallen, IL and Kelly Franke-Miller of Chicago; three step grandchildren, Suzanne Parent of Portland, Renard Davis of Lunenburg, MA, and Jamie Cail of Milo; and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo. (Bangor Daily News 8/31/2013 & Lary Funeral Home)
