Lois Fern Burton Jones, age 87, passed away on August 24, 2013 in St. George, Utah. She was born March 13, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to John Henry and Fannie Oram Burton. She married Mack Sterling Jones on November 22, 1944, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lois was born and raised in Ogden, where she attended school. After her marriage, Lois and Mack resided in Ogden, Utah until 1985, at which time they moved to St. George.
Lois was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully and especially enjoyed serving in the Temple.
Lois loved to "GAD" with her friends and enjoyed dancing, music and bingo. Thursday nights with the ladies was a big deal. She was an excellent cook and kept an immaculate home. She was a wonderful hostess and the world's greatest grandmother. She truly loved her husband, Mack, her children and grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her husband, Mack Sterling Jones of St. George, UT; her four sons, Dale (Tracey) Jones Parks of N. Salt Lake City, UT, Ronald Burton (Sally) Jones of Riverdale, UT, Michael Glade (Shela) Jones of Henderson, NV, Robyn Mack Jones of St. George, UT; and 40 grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Fannie; two brothers, Bill and George; and a sister, Mary Burton Bingham.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Canyon Stake Center, 1184 North Dixie Downs Drive, St. George, UT. There will be a viewing Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
