Jas. L. Tayloe Services To Be Held Tomorrow
Services will be held for Jas. L. Tayloe at 1:15 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home on Route Three followed by services at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Burial will be made in the City Cemetery. Rev. Stahlhut will officiate at the home and church and Owensville A.F. & A.M. No. 624 will conduct services for Mr. Tayloe, who was a charter member of the local order, at the cemetery.
Mr. Tayloe died at his home Tuesday. He had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Tayloe was well known in Gasconade County. He had lived in Brush Creek Township his entire life, was a community leader there and had served as president of the Tayloe School Board for the last 15 years. He was widely known in the Republican party which he served as County Committeeman for many years.
James Lorenz Tayloe was born near Bem on November 7, 1866, and reached the age of 74 years. He grew to manhood in the Bem community and was married to Cora M. Shipley in 1891, at Steelville. She died in 1908, and he was later married to Lucille Davenport. He was married to his present wife, nee Mary Havelka, who survives him, on November 6, 1923.
Besides Mrs. Tayloe, he leaves one daughter, Fannie M. Tayloe of St. Louis, and three sons, Walter D. Tayloe of St. Louis, Maurice E. of Washington and James L., Jr., of Owensville Route; one half-sister, Mrs. Ruth Downes of Bourbon and two grandchildren.
Mr. Tayloe was a member of St. Peter's Church here, the Masonic Order and M.W. A. No. 2616.
