Mrs. Wisely was born Elizabeth Heape at Tamaroa, Illinois, May 2, 1849. She and Mr. Wisely were united in marriage in 1872. To this union were born seven children who, with their father, survive. The children are: Mrs. G. E. Purdy, Coulterville; M. S. Wisely, Murphysboro; Mrs. John Sweatland, Vergennes; F. D. Wisely, Vergennes; Mrs. W. F. Burnett, Kansas City, Kansas; J. R. Wisely, Vergennes; and Dan Wisely, Coulterville. Two brothers and one sister also survive.
After marriage Mr. and Mrs. Wisely resided on a farm and she taught school for seven years. The Wisely's left the farm 30 years ago, and went to Vergennes where they have since resided.
Mrs. Wisely was an active member of the First M. E. Church of Vergennes and for many years taught a Sunday School class. She also was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Rebekah Lodges of Vergennes.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the First M. E. Church at Vergennes by Rev. E. Smith. Interment followed in the Parrish Cemetery.
