Wilma Paulina Nelms, 97, of Krebs, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at a local nursing center. She was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Gowen. She grew up in Gowen and lived a short time in Oklahoma City where she worked as a dental assistant. She moved back to the McAlester area and went to work at the United States Naval Ammunition Depot, (now the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant) where she met Floyd Nelms and they were married in 1944. She later worked at Seamprufe for a short time then went to work at Oklahoma Aerotronics, from which she eventually retired as a supervisor. She enjoyed quilting and raising flowers every year in her gardens. Survivors include one son, Ron Pate, of McAlester; granddaughter, Ronda Sue Pate, Sheridan, California, and great-granddaughter, Julia Marie Huff, of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Nelms; a brother and a sister.
