Funeral Services For Ben C. Brown -

Benjamin C. Brown, a lifetime resident of this community, died Sunday morning in the hospital at St. Paul following a short illness. His health had not been good during recent weeks....

Burial was made in the Glenwood Cemetery, in the vicinity where he had lived so many years. The St. Paul Masonic Lodge conducted graveside rites of that lodge.

Mr. Brown was born October 8, 1883, north of Palmer in Nance County, a son of Alfred and Ruth Brown. He was educated in District No. 4 in Glenwood community, and at Fremont Normal College in Fremont, Nebraska.

Following the death of his first wife, Myra Carter Brown, he was married to Inez Gates on October 8, 1916. When he retired from the farm some years ago, they moved to Palmer, where he continued to live an active life until the time of his death. He was a member of the St. Paul Lodge No. 82, A.F.&A.M. and a member o the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Whedon of Omaha, Mrs. Beulah Sterling of Oxnard, California and Mrs. Ada Pelican of Palmer; two sons, T/Sgt Ben Brown at Fort Hood, Texas, and Buren Brown of Grand Island; one sister, Mrs. Mittie Hadley of Kalispell, Montana; one brother, Alfred of Palmer; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ben C. Brown, 80, of Palmer were held there on Tuesday. He died Sunday at a St. Paul hospital following a short illness. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

A native of Nance county, he and his wife lived in the Glenwood area until he retired in 1946 and moved into Palmer.

He is survived by his wife; five sons and daughters, Mrs. Ada Pelican of Palmer, Mrs. Beulah Sterling of Oxnard, California, Mrs. Margaret Whedon of Omaha; T/Sgt. Ben Brown of Fort Hood, Texas; and Buren Brown of Grand Island; a sister, Mrs. Mittie Hadley of Kalispell, Montana; a brother, J. Alf Brown of Palmer; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was an uncle of Roger Brown and Harvey Brown of Fullerton.
