Walter E. Catey, 88, of rural Peru, entered into eternal life to be with his Lord at 5:45 P.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Caring Hands Health Center. He was born in Carlos, IN January 2, 1925, the son of George and Esther Miller Catey. Walter married his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn Brough in Peru on January 6, 1945 and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2010.

Walter graduated from Peru High School in 1943 and was employed as an Engineer on the N & W Railroad until his retirement in 1988. He was also, a retired Miami County farmer and in his younger days, his family owned and operated Catey Dairy of Peru. Walter had a deep, devoted and lifelong faith and faithfully served his Lord at the First Christian Church for more than 73 years. He was graceful in life, peaceful in death and always a faithful servant of God.

Walter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He was a 50 year member of Peru-Miami Lodge #67 F&AM.

Left behind to celebrate the love and legacy of Walter's life are his children Vicki Gray of Wabash, IN Cheryl Richards and her husband James of Logansport, IN and Robert Catey and his wife Becky of Peru, IN; grandchildren, Ted Alan Gray and his wife Suzanne, Pat Gray and his wife Jackie, Tamara (Gray) Topliff and her husband Todd, Bill Richards, Mike Richards, Jason Richards, Alison Catey, Erin (Catey) Carmichael and her husband Jerrod and Lauren Catey. Ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a brother David Catey also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn, a daughter Christina Diane Catey,

brothers Dale and John Catey and a sister Anita Wright.



A private graveside service celebrating the life of Walter E. Catey will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Mt. Hope Cemetery with Pastor George McCarty officiating. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru.
