OLWINE, Gerald Eugene Born December 9, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio, passed away on August 5, 2005 at the Veteran's Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. A WW II veteran of 20 combat missions as a turret gunner in a B-24 over enemy territory, he participated in the Battles of Normandy and Air Offensive Europe. He was wounded in action and taken prisoner by the German Army after his aircraft was shot down over Paris, France in June, 1944. His decorations include the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster and Theatre Ribbons with 2 Battle Stars. He is survived by wife, Patricia Jean, sons, Gerald R. and John C., and daughter, Deborah Beloir; grandchildren, Andrew, Sara and Brittany Olwine and Sophia Beloir; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Jeremiah and Ethan Olwine; sister-in-law, Bernadine Robinette and her children and grandchildren. A private interment service with military honors was held at Dayton National Cemetery, Veteran's Administration, Dayton, Ohio.
