Dolores M. Ellison
(May 31, 1930 - August 15, 2013)

Dolores Mae Ellison, age 83, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, August 15, 2013 under the gentle care of Hospice of Lenawee. Dolores was born May 31, 1930 in Milan, the daughter of Roy Monroe and Gertrude Pauline (Horner) Skiff. She married Russell Stanley Heldt on August 26, 1946. He preceded her in death June 13, 1974. She then married Lyle E. Ellison on March 4, 1978. He also preceded her in death on August 4, 2007.

Dolores was an active member of NewSong Community Church in Tecumseh. For many years, she worked on the family farm in Milan. She also worked at Wolverine Plastics in Milan. She was a past member of the American Legion Post #268 in Milan. Dolores had many interests but those she enjoyed most were sewing, embroidery, bowling, and playing bingo. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with family and friends.

Dolores is survived by her sons Roy (Letty) Heldt of Milan, Terry (Kay) Heldt of Britton, Richard (Pam) Heldt of Milan; step son Daniel (Karen) Ellison of Fairbanks, AL; daughters Linda (Tom) Moore of Britton, Vera (Tom) Hawkins of Tecumseh, Patty (Donnie) Hewitt of Tipton; step daughter Jeanette (Richard) Maus of Muskegon; brothers Gerald (Joan) Skiff of Schererville, IN, and Arthur (Marty) Skiff of Milan; her sister Eunice (Robert) Cleveland of Knox, IN; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother Robert Skiff, sisters Beverly Troyer and Lois Coonfare, step son Larry Ellison, and her grandson Michael Heldt.

Visitation for Dolores will be Sunday, August 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at NewSong Community Church, 5211 Occidental Highway in Tecumseh on Monday, August 19 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating. Visitation will also be held at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at London Township Cemetery in Milan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NewSong Community Church.
