Funeral director. Born of Italian parents,in Switzerland and educated in France,he came to the United States at age 13. In the late 1800's and early part of the 20th century he was a partner in the Pioneer Macaroni and Vermicelli Company in San Francisco. He moved to Los Angeles from San Francisco in 1900 to establish a branch of his firm's undertaking business of which there were 2 others, one in San Francisco and the other in Oakland. The Los Angeles firm was Godeau and Martinoni and was at 828 Washington Blvd., and they had a beautiful facility and it served primarily Italian clientele. The Oakland facility dwindled out, but the San Francisco business kept going for many years eventually at 41 Van Ness Avenue with Julius Godeau as President. Both firms had very good reputations and were in business until the 1980's. Martinoni belonged to a large number of fraternal and benevolent associations, and had an enormous Masonic funeral in Los Angeles. His body was originally buried at the Italian Cemetery in Colma, California, and in October 1929, he was moved to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, also in Colma.
