Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Hagberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Betty Jane Elliott was born March 7, 1926, in Rolla, Mo., to B.W. and Viola (Harsh) Elliott. She attended school in Kennett, Mo. On Nov. 1, 1943, she and Robert Dinkel were married in Kennett. During World War II, she worked as an inspector for Hovland Manufacturing. She then became a full-time homemaker, raising her children. After the children were grown, she went to work for Aalfs Manufacturing as an inspector.

She was a member of Sioux City Women's Club and St. Mark Lutheran Church. Her greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria, and her husband, Dave Hawkins of South Sioux City; a son, Robert, and his wife, Jennifer, of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Toi and her husband, Jerry Mulder, of Boyden, Iowa, Todd and his wife, Jamie Rowe, of Blairsville, Ga., Tim Dinkel and Tanci of Frederick, Colo., Robert Dinkel Jr. of Mesa and Cortney Cook of Mesa; eight great-grandchildren, Megan Mulder, Nicole Mulder, Lauren Mulder, Kaitlyn Mulder, Ashley Rowe, Adam Rowe, Carter Rowe and Cullyn Dinkel; a great-great-grandson, Dyllan Mulder; brothers, David, Paul and Frankie Elliott; sisters, Imogene Wold, Dorothy Elliott and Mary Evans; two sisters-in-law, Lois Choquette and Betty Johnson; a special friend, Dorothy Church; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; a son, Gary; two brothers, Harvey and Dale; and a sister-in-law, Jean Elliott. Memorials may be directed to the family.
