Fredericksburg, Va.--

James Robert Drake, Sr., 63, of 11425 Graninger Circle, Fredericksburg, Virginia, died Sunday, July 12, 1998 in Virginia, after an extended illness. Born April 23, 1935 in Ithaca, he was a former resident of the Lansing-Moravia area before relocating to Virginia in 1982. Mr. Drake was a former truck driver and had managed several trucking companies in Virginia. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served from 1952 to 1960. Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Jane (Taylor) Drake at home; his parents, Roy and Lorena (Hagin) Cochran of Lansing; three sons, James R. Jr. and Joel W., both of Fredericksburg, and Thomas L. of Lady Smith, Va.; four daughters, Heidi D. Bullock and Rachelanne Minnoe, both of Fredericksburg, Laura M. Tarr of King George, Va., and Angele M. Brown of East Venice, NY; two brothers, Allen Cochran of Groton, NY and Roy H. Cochran of Lansing, NY; a sister, Carolyn Block of Barnwell, SC; 17 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa, with the Rev. John L. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in East Venice Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 3177 Main St., Genoa, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Dialysis Center, 230 Executive Center Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
