RALEIGH -- Estelle Jones Strickland, 86, passed away Wednesday morning at her home in Raleigh.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Epps Jones, and wife of the late Roland E. Strickland Sr.
She was a charter member of Pineview Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryan Chapman officiating.
Family members will greet friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her sons, J.C. Strickland and Roland E. Strickland Jr. both of Raleigh; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda S. and Billy H. McCollum of Seven Springs; two brothers, Billy Ray Jones of Arizona and Lewis Albert Jones of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Mark J. and Amanda McCollum, April M. and Dwayne Peeden, Joshua D. and Allison McCollum, Michelle Lyn Strickland, Patrick R. Strickland and Jay and April Strickland; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Will McCollum, Gavin and Emily Peeden, Margaret McCollum and Courtney and Julie Strickland; and three step grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Warren and Kayli Cashwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.
