Dr. Hopkins, former pastor of the first Congregational Church, officiated at the funeral service of Mrs. Mary Burton Wallis, which were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at the family residence, 121 Prairie Street. Mr. L.S. Hopkins rendered two musical selections, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” and “Lead Kindly Light”, accompanied by Mrs. E. M. Healey. The sermon spoke eloquently of the beautiful life and character of the deceased. The burial was made in Linwood Cemetery, and the casket bearers were selected from the immediate family circle.
The large attendance of friends at the service and the numbers of exquisite floral offering were evidence of the hosts of friends extending their sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
