Designer of Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham, Massachusetts. In June of 1859, Morris agreed to design the layout for this cemetery in exchange for $325.00 and his choice of a lot within the cemetery. He chose a point bordered by the Charles River in Section F on Bright Path. Besides Mount Feake, he worked on projects including Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Massachusetts, the Samuel Colt Estate in Hartford, Connecticut, and the Oak Grove Cemetery in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He attended Harvard University to study Liberal Arts where he met his friend, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. After graduation, he worked as a scientific farmer at Beaver Brook Falls. In 1856 Copeland and Longfellow wrote A Few Words on the Central Park. He published Country Life: A Handbook of Agriculture Horticulture and Landscape Gardening in 1859. Morris served in the Civil War, and was discharged in 1862. He was the son of Benjamin and Julia F. Copeland. He married Josephine Kent in Roxbury on June 29, 1854, they had six children.
