Wilma Mabel Myers, 91, formerly of Jackson, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Skilled Nursing at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born May 3, 1922, daughter of Edward James and Nora M. (Weisbrod) Biri, at Old Appleton. She and Willard D. "Bill" Myers were married Sep. 25, 1940, in Benton, Mo.
The couple moved to Saxony Village at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau in 2004 after residing more than 60 years in Jackson. Failing health required a subsequent move to Assisted Living on the same campus in 2008.
She worked as a waitress at various restaurants throughout her life and was the personal waitress for the Jackson Rotary Club for some 20 years.
Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; her two brothers, Lester and Loyd Biri; three sisters, Audrey Cummins, Lorene Bragg, and Thelma Biri; and a great-grandson, Zachary Earnest. She is survived by one sister, Nada Nagel of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Peggy (Marvin) Sneller of Roselle, Ill.; and a son, the Rev. Dr. Larry Myers of New Berlin, Wis. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Brent (Cindy) Sneller of Roselle, Ill., Beth (Mark) Earnest of Waukesha, Wis., and Christoph Myers of New Berlin, Wis.; by four great-grandchildren, Madelyn Sneller, Ashley Sneller, Tyler Earnest, and Benjamin Earnest; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
The funeral will follow at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating.
Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast.
